Apotekarnes Årsmust 2014 [Limited Edition]

Yes, they have started a new tradition.
Who are they, you ask?
Why the kind santas at Apotekarnes.
Here they are with a new special Christmas cordial.
What flavour is hidden in this years special?

The lable on the bottle looks the same as last year.
Except for the "2014", so nothing new here.
I would think that they at least could change the image on the lable or something.
I love that they have a real cork though.

The beverage smells like regular Christmas cordial.
At first i thought I tasted liqourice which was kind of weird.
Because I do not think cordial and liqourice go well together.
Up on checking the back of the bottle, I found out the secret flavour is orange.
And now that I know that it, of course, starts getting an after taste of orange.
Orange and cordial is a better mix.
And I really liked this one.
Your taste buds are a funny thing.

Apotekarnes Årsmust 2013 [Limited Edition]

I know what I said... No more beverages.
But I could not resist this one.
In Sweden we drink a lot of julmust during Christmas.
I do not know how to translate julmust.
The best i found was carbonated Christmas cordial (or sap).
It is a soft drink made from hop and malt extract and different spices.
It is said that only two people know the entire original recipe.

Anyway, this is a vintage limited edition with a special flavoring.
This year, the flavoring is dark chocolate.
Dark chocolate is something I am not that fond of.
At least not when eating it straight up.
So this should be interesting.

It smells like regular julmust.
Which is a sweet smell with a faint smell of beer in the background.
At first it does taste like regular julmust.
But after a while, the flavor transforms.
The taste becomes darker.
There is definitely a chocolate flavor.
It is not totally like dark chocolate.
More like light dark chocolate if that is a thing.
It is actually quite lovely.
Christmas must is a Christmas must!

JuleSkum Knäck 2013 [Limited Edition]

You, knew these were coming.
Each year I write about the new marshmallow Santa flavor from Cloetta.
Last year it was Winter Apple and the year before that, Candy Cane.
But this year, the flavor is butterscotch.
Making butterscotch flavored candy is a common tradition in Sweden.
And that is why we have butterscotch flavored Santas this year.

The bag is pretty much the same as the previous two years.
Except its brownish color and Santa seem to be a bit larger.
The Santas are also the same as previous years, but they are now brown.

Upon opening the bag you notice a distinct butterscotch smell.
It is very nice and not as chemical as you would imagine.
The taste is also very much butter scotch, but perhaps not as distinct.
If I would have to choose between these Santas and "real" butterscotch candy.
The "real" candy would definitely win.

Sia Pepparkaka [Limited Edition]

Let us start this Christmas season with something chilly (get it?).
Ice cream is maybe something you would not normally associate with Christmas.
But this is special extra jolly Christmas ice cream.
This is gingerbread flavored ice cream.
The Santas at Sia Glass (glass = ice cream) has been very nice to us.
As far as I know, I have never seen or heard of gingerbread ice cream before.

The ice cream itself is actually gingerbread flavored.
And it also has bits of gingerbread for added merriment.
It is partially gingerbread colored, which is a shame.
I would have wanted it to be darker.
But one present is better than zero presents.

The package is kind of basic. But all packages of Sia ice cream is like this.
A white box with the Sia logo and the product in the middle.
Not that merry or jolly but it will do.
It has a nice smell of gingerbread.
It actually makes the room smell a bit and that is a first for ice cream.

This is good, so good. The flavor is so good!
Who would have thought that an ice cream flavored with gingerbread would be this good.
It is sweet and does not have that burnt flavor you sometimes get from gingerbread.
I hope they bring this one back.

FritoLay Cheetos x Pepsi Shuwa Shuwa Cola Corn Snack [Limited Edition]

I can not believe it! I made it another year.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this blog turns two years today.
I remember the beginning like it was yesterday.
When I started this blog I only had a dream... A dream and lots of candy.

And here I am, two years and 119 (including this one) posts later.
A lot of candy and snacks has been eaten and a lot of soda has been tested.
But I promise you, there will be more. I do not have less things to try, I have more!

Today is a day of celebration.
And what better when celebrating, than some soda and snacks.
Or why not both? At the same time?
Here we have Pepsi flavoured Cheetos.
You read correctly, Pepsi Flavored Cheetos!

This is a Limited Edition snack and a cooperation between Fritolay and Pepsi.
Now Fritolay likes to try new flavours, but this is just crazy.
In other words, perfect for my blog.
First of all, the packaging is very nice.
It is blue and fresh, with a big cup of Pepsi soda floating on a river of the snack itself.
Look at that cup go. It looks like it is having the time of its life.
But what now? It fell over drenching the snack with its Pepsi content.
However will this taste?

The snack does not smell that much of Pepsi actually.
But if you stick your nose into the bag, oh my, there is lots of Pepsi scent in that bag.
One thing to clear out. The Shuwa Shuwa in the name, it kind of means the sound that the bubbles in a soda can makes.
And yes, the snack also smells like carobnated soda.

But what about the taste you ask?
That is a good question and I really like you for asking it.
The taste, is... Well, weird as you might imagine.
The first thing you taste is acctually the carbonation.
It is kind of a sharp and bubbly flavor. It acctually fizzes a bit in your mouth.
When that immediate flavour has gone, there is an after taste of cola.
The taste is kind of bitter, but at the same time sweet.
The kind of flavor you get from a flat pepsi soda.

But are they any good? Well, yes and no.
The flavor is good in the sense that it is very weird and like nothing I have ever tried before.
But I would not call them tasty. I would call them impressive.
To go so far flavor wise.

I will now end this celebration and hope for another year filled with candynstuff.
Cheers!

Fanta Mango & Passionfruit [Limited Edition]

I have only writen about Fanta once on this blog before.
But that must change, as I have tried lots of nice and special Fanta flavours.
And this is one of them.

A limited edition Fanta with mango and passionfruit flavour.
I like both mango and passionfruit, so this should be an easy fit.
I really like the can, except the Fanta world person, I do not like him.
Maybey because I absolutely hate that commercial.
The can has a nice representation of the flavour.
Purple for passionfruit and orange for mango (and orange juice, because there is lots of that in it).

The soda does not really smell like anything more than regular Fanta.
I would have liked a more mango smell, because that is really nice.
What about the taste?
Both the mango and the passionfruit flavouring is kind of tame.
On account of the orange juice.
Yes, it tastes the most of orange juice, but the other flavours are also there.
It is a really nice soda, but I can not help but wonder what the taste would have been without the orange.

M&M's White Chocolate Carrot Cake [Limited Edition]

I never thought I would see the day, when there would be M&M's with carrot cake filling.
But alas, it is Easter, and here they are.
I see what they did here.
At Easter, there are Easter bunnies.
And bunnies eat carrots.
And in human terms, that makes carrot cake?
It seems like a weird combination.
But I like carrot cake, so why not?

The packaging is sexy, in a way an M&M packaging could be considered sexy.
And features the green female M&M with bunny ears.
It also has a nice yellow Easter color.
And of course, lots of text proclaiming the artificial flavors.
Like we would believe they crammed carrot cakes into those tiny M&M's.

The M&M's are based on white chocolate and comes in yellow, green and red pastel colors.
Upon opening the bag, you are treated to a deep smell of carrot cake.
Yes, it actually smells like carrot cake.
But, I do not know if the inside of the bag has gotten a scent boost.
Because each individual M&M does not smell that much.
Still, it is a nice smell.

The taste, well... They taste kind of like carrot cake.
I am not used to carrot cake with this much cinnamon in it.
It still is av very cake like taste and I like it.
Sadly, after a few pieces, the white chocolate starts to take over.

Happy Easter to all of you!

Rusti Chips Sirtaki Tzatziki Flavour [Limited Edition]

March is two weeks in, and still no post from this blog?
That is bad, very bad.
So why not write about potato chips with tzatziki flavouring?

What is that you say?
That sounds like a good idea?
Well All-righty-then.

These are made by Rusti Chips, based in Germany.
I like greek food.
And I especially like a good Tzatziki to go with my greek food.

The round Pringles, sorry... Rusti Chips container is very neat.
The chips are being thrown at you by the greek flag.
There is also some ancient greek ruins pictured on the packaging.
Will these chips be the ruin of me?

For those of you that are interested, Sirtaki is a popular dance from greece.
So, if you are in the mood for dancing potato chips, these are for you.

Upon opening the container, you are greated with the strong smell of tzatziki.
And that is great, that is just what we want them to smell like.
The taste, is unfortunately a bit more tame.
It tastes more like garlic than tzatziki.
But they are still nice and would probably do nice as an add-on snack for your greek dinner.

Oreo Gingerbread [Limited Edition]

Today is christmas eve!
And I am sitting here waiting for santa.
I am getting a bit sleepy, my eyelids becoming heavy.
Suddenly I am awaken by a strange sound.
Someone is scurrying up the chimney.
Sleepily I look around... What is that?
Something under the tree?
Santa has brought me Oreos with gingerbread flavouring!

There is just something about holiday themed Oreos.
Especially the Limited Editions.
Though I must say, I do not like the box.
It is so yellow.
Sure, there is a gingerbread man on the box.
But still, yellow.
At least the gingerbread man looks as happy as he can be to be apart of the Oreo family.

Despite the warning, I choose to open the package from the side.
You see, I wanted to get at picture of the Oreos coming out from the side of the package.
The cookies are unfortunately not very christmasy.
They are the standard "light" Oreos.
Last year I wrote about Oreo Candy Cane.
And they had a great christmas theme.

Anyway, they smell a lot like gingerbread.
The scent is not enough too fill the room, but still enough.
There seem to be more filling than in the standard Oreos (a christmas miracle for sure).
The taste is nice, not as extreme as you would think.
It has a nice round taste of gingerbread.
The "light" Oreos kind of ruin the taste a bit... But just a bit.

Now I am of to eat more of these Oreos and watch From All of Us to All of You, with Donald, Mickey and friends.
Maybey santa will bring me more gifts?

I want to wish all of my readers a...

Doritos Gourmet - Teriyaki Mayonnaise [Limited Edition]

We have here chips from Japan.
Flavoured with a classic Japanese Teriyaki flavour combined with mayonnaise.
Since I do not know Japanese, the art/text on the bag says nothing to me.
It could just as well have been chips flavoured with ranch dressing.
But I knew this when i bought them, so nevermind.

I am not all the familiar with Japanese teriyaki flavouring.
And this is fast going into weird territory.
I am not really sure I want to continue this testing session.
But I will do it for you my friends.

Teriyaki is a form of sweet soy sauce marinade.
And maybey it is supposed to smell like this but I really do not know.
It smells weird. A bit sweet. A bit like chips.

The flavour is also weird. First they do not taste like anything.
Then a sweet flavour slowly starts to appear.
Then that sweet flavour mixes with another flavour (mayonnaise perhaps?).
And that is when they start to taste disgusting.
And then it mixes again and they taste a bit sweet again and it tastes ok again.
So to recap:
"These does not taste like anything, scratch that, they are sweet, but what happens now? Eeeew! This is horrible, ohh, they are sweet again? Sure i will have another."

I would not call these good nor bad.
Interesting is the word i want to use.

Fanta Super Fruits Mix [Limited Edition]

From Japan (where else) comes the Fanta Super Fruits Mix.
A bold mix of fruits and flavours.
This is a limited edition Fanta with Acerola, Passionfruit, White Grape, Green Sweet Apple, and Grapefruit.

I was hesitant to try it at first.
You see, I don't really like it when you mix lots of fruits into one single juice/soda.
Mostly, the flavours doesn't mix well and you get something that doesn't taste very good.

But this one is from Fanta and has both vitamin C and E, so it should be good?
I carefully opened the bottle. I wanted to expose myself to its scent from the start.
And what a scent it is. Or should i say scents.
It doesn't smell like one thing, but several things and at different times.
The first whiff might smell sour, the second sweet, the third... Something else completely.
It's a really cool feature and it makes me eager to taste it.

The packaging... Is kind of trippy, lots of different fonts and colours and fruits and such.
Not a favourite but I still like it.
And the coulour of the drink is just awesome.
I can only describe it as vitamin-tablet-yellow.

So, how does it taste?
Well, the taste is kind of like the smell. It alternates.
The first swig is sour, the second sweet... You get the picture.
It's both good and bad at the same time but not at the same time.
Unfortunately it doesn't end there.
The flavours starts mixing and you get what i described above.
Something not so tasty.
At least I was happy about it for a while and I would definently recommend it.

KitKat Cinnamon [Limited Edition]

Cinnamon is hardly used in Japanese cooking.
So it's a surprise to see a KitKat with cinnamon flavouring.
But hey, in Japan, all flavours are fair game.

Personally i like cinnamon flavoured candy.
Not necessarily the spicy version, but also regular cinnamon flavour.
Anyway, this is a white chocolate based KitKat with small sprinkles of cinnamon.
It smells alot like cinnamon, a rich nice scent.
Kind of makes me want to use it as a room freshener.
It's that strong.

The sprinkles are crunchy and tastes alot of cinnamon.
I think the the KitKat is perfectly balanced, between the sweetness of the chocolate and the spiciness of the cinnamon.
In other words, this is a great treat and I would like to try it again.

Japp Hazelnut [Limited Edition]

Sweden is starting to get it.
Chocolate should come in lots of different flavors and special/limited editions.
The regular Japp consists of chocolate marange and soft fudge covered in milk chocolate and it has been the same since it was released in 1947.
It was originaly supposed to be called Japs, which was short for Japanese during World War 2.
Thankfully they chose to drop the S and use another P.
Anyway, this isn't about the original Japp, this is about the Limited Edition with hazelnut.

Everyone likes Hazelnut?
The correct answer is: Nutella is made from hazelnuts...

It doesn't really smell like hazelnut, I think the chocolate is the prominent smell here.
It tastes like the regular Japp, but it also has a nutty flavor and an after taste of Nutella.
It's really a great and lovely taste.
There's nothing more to say, if you can get your hands on this version of the Japp, do it...
Buy as many as you can. They are really good.

Estrella Loud & Tasty Cheese Burger Potato Chips [Limited Edition]

Well, someone at Estrella decided to go all-out with these.
Usually, potato chips in Sweden are pretty standard.
Sourcream and onion, pepper, salt... That kind of thing.
But these, they are adventurous.
Promising a smell and taste of freshly made cheese burgers.
Will they live up to the hype?

Well, i think so?
I don't really know how chips with cheese burger flavour is supposed to smell and taste.
Opening the bag, there is a kind of burnt smell filling the room.
It sure doesn't smell like McDonalds och Burger King.
It's not really pleasant and it lingers for a long time.
But what about the flavour?
There is a disctinct cheese burger flavour... Kind of like McDonalds cheese burgers.
But there is also something burnt in the flavour. Same as the smell.
This makes them not so tasty.
They are fun to try, but a few chips are enough for me at least.

KitKat Le Lectier Pear [Limited Edition]

Le Lectier Pears is a speciality from the Niigata area of Japan.
They are (apparently) known for their smooth texture and intense fragrance.
I can't remember if I've tried the pear itself, so I can't confirm.
It's a white chocolate based KitKat and it not being coloured makes it close to the same colour as the pear itself.
It smells really artificial and with a little research i found out the scent is artificial.

But the taste is supposed to be natural and sure, it taste kind of like pears.
It whould have been fun to have a real pear and compare tastes.
But unfortunately I couldn't find one.
It's still an ok KitKat and it being limited makes it even better.

Pepsi Pink [Limited Edition]

Tomorrow is Midsummer's Eve in Sweden.
On this day in Sweden, we eat the year's first potatoes and soused herring with chives and sour cream.
What is more important, is the desert, which is strawberries and milk.
And what suits better to try today, than the Pepsi Pink.
Of course flavoured with strawberries and milk.
This is a limited edition flavour from 2011, of course from Japan.

First of all, it's really pink.
You can't really see it in the pictures, but believe me, it's PINK.
I can't really place what it smells like, but it doesn't really smell like strawberries.
More like sweet and tangy.
But if the scent is a disappointment, the taste isn't.

It tastes a lot like strawberries in milk. Very tasty.
It gives you a nostalgic feeling from when you were a child and couldn't wait to eat a bowl of strawberries and milk.
Even after a few gulps, the taste of strawberries is really strong.
I enjoyed this one, but i enjoy weird things, so you have to make up your own mind...

Oreos Candy Cane [Limited Edition]

A christmas version of the famous Oreo? Limited Edition? Rad!
Like in many christmas versions, the box is just awesome.
Theres so much christmas going on.
If you look at the cake itself, there's an imprint of a snowflake.
And the cream inside is red and white.
They really put some effort into making this as christmasy as possible.

Smells a lot lika minty candy cane. Like it should, of course.
They taste like you crushed a candy cane between two Oreo cakes.
In other wors, really good. It's nice and crispy too.
