JuleSkum Pepparkaka 2014

Yes! They are back.
The marshmallow Santas from Cloetta.
Who bathe themselves in different flavours every year.
Bringing delight to children of all ages.

Over the years we have had different flavours.
Candy Cane, Winter Apple and Butterscotch.
This year, they are gingerbread flavoured.



The packaging is pretty close to last years packaging.
The same brown colour, but with a gingerbread pattern.
Santa is still looking at the same gift.
He loves that gift. I wonder what is in it.



Anyway, opening the package reveals a nice gingerbread smell.
A really nice smell that makes me think of freshly baked gingerbread.
The taste is somewhat tamer.
They do taste like gingerbread, but I think it could be a more rich taste.
All in all, these are the best of the JuleSkum flavours.
Thankfully I got a second bag.

Flipz Gingerbread

Today is the second of advent and I am starting to feel pretty holly.
This weekend we decorated the Christmas tree and had a few bowls of mulled wine.
It got me thinking. Why not try something different?
And then I found these Flipz hidding under the Christmas tree.



Flipz are pretzels in different sizes and flavours.
Pretzels should need no further introduction.
And these are, as you guessed, covered in gingerbread flavoured chocolate.
The packaging is pretty awesome.
A gingerbread colour as a base and lots of small and giant snow flakes.
And just look at that happy snowman eating his own clothes.



They smell pretty much of gingerbread, but also of chocolate.
They are pretty crunchy, as they should be, and that is very nice.
The flavour is pretty heavy and it is more of the dark/bitter gingerbread flavour than the sweet.
I am not really fond of that type of flavour, but they were still pretty ok.

Digestive Pepparkaka

Ho! Ho! Ho!
Christmas time is here again.
And why not start the season with something easy?
With a cracker you all know, Digestive.
Now with gingerbread flavouring.



These where released last year and I think it is a great idea.
Digestive crackers are nice by themselves.
But combining them with gingerbread, that just sounds awesome.
And just look at that packaging.
It is very Christmasy.
A nice red colour palette and lots of Christmas symbols.
From snowflakes, to candy canes to christmas trees.
Something about it just screams Christmas.



They smell great!
Like a kitchen filled with newly baked gingerbread.
And who does not like that?
But what about the taste?
Well, the taste was somewhat dissapointing.
They sure tastes like gingerbread, but not really enough.
Still, these really got my Christmas feeling going.
And i thought they where a great start to the season.

M&M Gingerbread

Oh boy! Christmas Eve is finally here!
It has been a nice season and there have been much to try and write about.
I really hope Santa brings me some more candy (or stuff) for next year.
I think I have been really good.

Like the previous post, this one is also about gingerbread flavoring.
That nice little candy called M&M has joined the gingerbread league.
And just look at that package, it is so nice.
It definitely has that brown gingerbread color.
And the red M&M in a Santa suit.
With an expression that says: "Yeah, we have gone gingerbread baby!"



The candy comes in three Christmas colors. Red, green and brown.
Red is for Santa.
Green is for the Christmas tree.
And brown is of course for gingerbread.

They have a pretty strange buttery smell.
But gingerbread dough have butter in it so what about the taste?
The taste changes somehow between M&Ms.
Sometimes it taste like gingerbread cookies.
Sometimes like gingerbread dough.
And sometimes like slightly burned gingerbread cookies.
Maybe they are trying to simulate baking gingerbread cookies?
You always burn the first batch, hehe.

Twix Gingerbread

We are nearing us the end of this Christmas season.
And what better than some more gingerbread flavors?
Regular Twix are available in Sweden and they are always nice.
And when I saw these gingerbread flavored ones, I had to have them.
The bag is very gingerbready.
It has the right color and those gingerbread men are just lovely.



These are like regular Twix, but the caramel has been flavored with gingerbread.
There is no real smell of gingerbread unfortunately.
They smell more of regular Twix, which is to say, milk chocolate.
It is really a shame that the cookie bar was not a gingerbread cookie bar.
Because while the caramel does taste like gingerbread.
It is not nearly enough flavor to satisfy my gingerbread cravings.



I would like to take the opportunity to thank Kevin for getting these for me.

Gifflar Gingerbread

Enough with the beverages already. Time for some cake.
Some Austrian croissants to be exact.
Gifflar are a popular treat in Sweden.
With flavors ranging from cinnamon to vanilla to blueberry filling.
It is pretty hard to just eat one (or the whole bag for that matter).
Thus making them not so perfect for sharing.



As far as I can remember, these are new for this years Christmas season.
The bag is very nice, with a gingerbread brown and stars of icing.
There is also a very happy gingerbread on the box.
And you know why he is happy?
Because I bought this bag of course...
Now he is spared and gets to live out his long dream of traveling the world.



Gingerbread smell is the best is it not?
And this bag is full of it. It smells like a bakery in here.
It is not exactly like eating gingerbread cookies.
But it is close. The flavor is very very nice.
And I really starting to feel like Christmas in here.

Loka Pepparkaka

I know what you are thinking. Is he only gonna write about beverages this Christmas?
I promise you. There will be other stuff before Christmas Eve.
Now that that is out of the way, yes this is the third beverage on the Christmas list.
But this one is a weird one.
Gingerbread flavored mineral water.
I do not really like mineral water, but I will make an exception this time.



I must say, I am pretty proud of our Swedish brewery.
To try something like this. Cookie flavored water.
Well, why not? Let us try this jolly water.
The label promises us a wintery taste of gingerbread.
There are also some nice gingerbread trees, as well as some real ones on it.



Opening the bottle, you get that distinct gingerbread smell.
Since I had no gingerbread's in the room, it was a very weird feeling.
The taste is not as distinct as the smell, but it is definitely there.
And yes, drinking it is even more weird.
It was cool and all, but since i really do not like mineral water I will not try it again.

Peeps Gingerbread Flavoured Marshmallow Gingerbread Men

Wow, what a name. And it contains the word gingerbread twice.
These have to be more Christmas than Santa.
Peeps are marshmallow candies that comes in all shapes and flavors.
Theses are (you guessed it), gingerbread flavored.



The package is very nice.
Its graphics is a gingerbread house with a little window where the Peeps can peep at you.
The package contains six gingerbread men.
Some of my Peeps were not that well made and they look a bit weird.
But I will not let that ruin my Christmas spirit.



They have a very deep smell of gingerbread cookies.
Which is very nice. I like that smell.
They taste very much like gingerbread cookies.
Like soft versions of gingerbread cookies.
These really made my Christmas season better.

Sia Pepparkaka [Limited Edition]

Let us start this Christmas season with something chilly (get it?).
Ice cream is maybe something you would not normally associate with Christmas.
But this is special extra jolly Christmas ice cream.
This is gingerbread flavored ice cream.
The Santas at Sia Glass (glass = ice cream) has been very nice to us.
As far as I know, I have never seen or heard of gingerbread ice cream before.



The ice cream itself is actually gingerbread flavored.
And it also has bits of gingerbread for added merriment.
It is partially gingerbread colored, which is a shame.
I would have wanted it to be darker.
But one present is better than zero presents.



The package is kind of basic. But all packages of Sia ice cream is like this.
A white box with the Sia logo and the product in the middle.
Not that merry or jolly but it will do.
It has a nice smell of gingerbread.
It actually makes the room smell a bit and that is a first for ice cream.

This is good, so good. The flavor is so good!
Who would have thought that an ice cream flavored with gingerbread would be this good.
It is sweet and does not have that burnt flavor you sometimes get from gingerbread.
I hope they bring this one back.

Oreo Gingerbread [Limited Edition]

Today is christmas eve!
And I am sitting here waiting for santa.
I am getting a bit sleepy, my eyelids becoming heavy.
Suddenly I am awaken by a strange sound.
Someone is scurrying up the chimney.
Sleepily I look around... What is that?
Something under the tree?
Santa has brought me Oreos with gingerbread flavouring!

There is just something about holiday themed Oreos.
Especially the Limited Editions.
Though I must say, I do not like the box.
It is so yellow.
Sure, there is a gingerbread man on the box.
But still, yellow.
At least the gingerbread man looks as happy as he can be to be apart of the Oreo family.



Despite the warning, I choose to open the package from the side.
You see, I wanted to get at picture of the Oreos coming out from the side of the package.
The cookies are unfortunately not very christmasy.
They are the standard "light" Oreos.
Last year I wrote about Oreo Candy Cane.
And they had a great christmas theme.



Anyway, they smell a lot like gingerbread.
The scent is not enough too fill the room, but still enough.
There seem to be more filling than in the standard Oreos (a christmas miracle for sure).
The taste is nice, not as extreme as you would think.
It has a nice round taste of gingerbread.
The "light" Oreos kind of ruin the taste a bit... But just a bit.



Now I am of to eat more of these Oreos and watch From All of Us to All of You, with Donald, Mickey and friends.
Maybey santa will bring me more gifts?

Christmas Soaps

Gunry makes soaps with lots of different scents.
This christmas, they have outdone themselves and given us three different christmas soaps!
They come in Candy Cane, Orange/Carnation and Gingerbread.

Candy Cane



This soap is white.
It would have been a lot nicer if it would have been striped white/red, but i do not know if that is even possible.
The art on the packaging is very nice.
Bells, some christmas tree branches, a candy cane and some candy cane caramels.
It has a nice minty candy cane scent.

Orange/Carnation



I do not know if the practice of putting carnation in oranges is very big outside of Sweden, but here it is.
When you are done, you hang the orange/carnation/abomination in a window and it gives of a pleasant scent.
The packaging on this soap is also nice.
With a orange/carnation/combination and some snowflakes.
The scent was unfortunately a letdown.
It smells like regular orange soap.

Gingerbread



Last but not least we have the gingerbread scented soap.
The box has some mistletoe and snowflakes.
And of course a gingerb... Wait, is that the Gingerbread man from Shrek?
It sure looks like it.
That is kind o weird, but he is a gingerbread man so lets roll with it.
The soap itself is a nice shade of brown.
It has a smell of baked goods.
Not so much of gingerbread, maybey a little.

I can not decide which soap is the winner.
The Candy Cane has the best scent but the gingerbread has the best colour and packaging.
I guess it is a tie.

Starbucks Christmas Lattes

I like coffee, but I do not like just black coffee.
For me it has to be a latte or a cappuccino or something similar.
And that is why I really like Starbucks.
Bacause they have different types of lattes and such.
And they have new flavours depending on the season.
Our local Starbucks has gone christmas crazy.
This year, they are offering three different christmas lattes (ok, one is a mocha).
They also get a bonus for playing christmas songs.

The sign greating you and telling you what flavours to expect is great.
The only thing I do not like, is that your coffee is not served in those lovely cups in the picture.
But nevermind that. Christmas lattes!



Gingerbread Latte
The first one is a gingerbread flavoured latte.
It has a distinct gingerbread scent and it takes you right into christmas mode.
The taste is lovely and it feels like drinking liquid gingerbread.
While still tasting like coffee mind you.



Cranberry White Mocha
Looks nothing like in the picture above, which is bad.
It smells like whipped cream and white chocolate.
Has a pretty sourish taste, like cranberry or lingonberries.
It is very sweet.



Toffee Nut Latte
This one also smells like whipped cream.
It has a kind of bitter taste to it that I do not like.
The crushed nuts are sweet and crunchy.
This was my least favourite of the three.

In the end the Gingerbread Latte is the clear winner!

Ballerina Pepparkaka

We start the christmas season here at Candynstuff with the Oreo of Sweden... Ballerina.
Ballerina is made by Göteborgskex and is available in a couple of different flavours.
This is the christmas version and it it of course based on the classic Ballerina but with gingerbread filling.

The packaging has gotten a bit more christmasy.
There is snow everywhere and even some nice snowflakes.
And the Ballerina men/women are engaged in what looks like a snowball fight.
All in all, it is a nice package.
The cookies have also got a christmas overhaul.
The center is normally just round, but here it is star shaped, lovely.



They have a nice gingerbread scent making the whole room (or maybey just the area around me) smell like christmas.
The scent is definitely better than the flavouring.
The filling tastes nice, but does not really mix togheter with the cookie part.
They should have made the cookie part more christmasy.
It is still a good cookie and a must to try at christmas time.

Skånemejerier Pepparkaksfil

I don't know if fil (processed sour milk) is very popular in the rest of the world, but in Sweden it is.
And Skånemejerier is by far the best dairy.
Each year at christmas, they bless us with this christmas themed version with gingerbread flavouring.

The box is awesome this year (as always).
The taste is like if you'd crushed gingerbread and sugar together.
You don't need to add anything else to it, like jam.
Very good.

PopTarts Gingerbread

First of all, this looks terrific.
Both the box and the tarts themself.
The gingerbreadman on the box art is skating on gingerbread!
And I also like the "To: From:" on the side of the box.
Makes it so more like christmas.





They smell very nice too.
A pleasant scent of gingerbread.
And they taste terrific (of course!)
With a toned down taste of gingerbread, and icing inside!
Very nice indeed.

Fazer Gingerbread Chocolate

The description for this chocolate says "Spicy milk chocolate with fruit, ginger snaps and almond".
I had high hopes for this one, it's big and it's supposed to be gingerbready.
But, it doesn't smell like gingerbread, just regular milk chocolate.
Like i said, it's big and each individual piece is enough for your mouth, but that's common with chocolate from Fazer i suppose.

I can't really taste the gingerbread.
There is a kind of a burnt flavour which bears a resemblance to gingerbread, but that's it.
I expected more.

Dumle Gingerbread [Limited Edition]

För er som inte vet det, så betyder gingerbread, pepparkaka på svenska.
Har ingen aning varför man valt att blanda språken så.
Säkert någon på reklambyrån som ville skämta till det lite, haha :)
Nu var det avklarat i alla fall ;)

De luktar och ser ut som vanliga Dumle och jag skulle faktiskt först skriva att de smakar så med.
Men så var inte fallet märkte jag efter en stund.
Det är nämligen så att de smakar som vanliga Dumle, men efter ett tag när eftersmaken kommer så blir det direkt en helvändning mot pepparkakor.
Inte perfekta pepparkakor, men ändå pepparkakor.
Smaken är ganska konstig, men ändå angenäm.

Sammanfattat, kan man väl säga att de är ok men jag känner inte så att jag vill äta flera påsar av dem.
Stor bonus för den fina förpackningen!
