Flipz Gingerbread

Today is the second of advent and I am starting to feel pretty holly.
This weekend we decorated the Christmas tree and had a few bowls of mulled wine.
It got me thinking. Why not try something different?
And then I found these Flipz hidding under the Christmas tree.

Flipz are pretzels in different sizes and flavours.
Pretzels should need no further introduction.
And these are, as you guessed, covered in gingerbread flavoured chocolate.
The packaging is pretty awesome.
A gingerbread colour as a base and lots of small and giant snow flakes.
And just look at that happy snowman eating his own clothes.

They smell pretty much of gingerbread, but also of chocolate.
They are pretty crunchy, as they should be, and that is very nice.
The flavour is pretty heavy and it is more of the dark/bitter gingerbread flavour than the sweet.
I am not really fond of that type of flavour, but they were still pretty ok.

Cadbury Dairy Milk Egg 'n' Spoon

There has not been much happening on this blog for a while.
But that is because I have been out hunting.
Hunting for eggs... Easter eggs to be precise.
And I finally found some worthy of this blog.

You see, they have to be special.
And these are pretty special.
Egg 'n' Spoon from Cadbury is on the menu today.
They come in, what at first, looks like a regular egg carton.
But this is a special easter egg carton, containing golden chocolate eggs.

The idea is that you peel the golden layer of.
Then bite the top of and eat the mousse content with a spoon.
How do you get a spoon that small you ask?
Well, a neat little plastic spoon is provided in the carton.
Actually, there are two of them.
Something I did not discover at first.
That means the eggs are great for sharing, if you are into that.

There are two flavours available:
Milk chocolate mousse and white chocolate mousse.
I chose the latter, because it was the most tempting.
There are four eggs in the carton.
The milk chocolate egg shell smells and tastes regular milk chocolate.
It is when you start eating the mousse with the small spoon that the magic happens.
The mousse is very fluffy and sweet and I enjoyed it very much.

I hope all of my readers have a happy easter and a pleasant weekend.

M&M Gingerbread

Oh boy! Christmas Eve is finally here!
It has been a nice season and there have been much to try and write about.
I really hope Santa brings me some more candy (or stuff) for next year.
I think I have been really good.

Like the previous post, this one is also about gingerbread flavoring.
That nice little candy called M&M has joined the gingerbread league.
And just look at that package, it is so nice.
It definitely has that brown gingerbread color.
And the red M&M in a Santa suit.
With an expression that says: "Yeah, we have gone gingerbread baby!"

The candy comes in three Christmas colors. Red, green and brown.
Red is for Santa.
Green is for the Christmas tree.
And brown is of course for gingerbread.

They have a pretty strange buttery smell.
But gingerbread dough have butter in it so what about the taste?
The taste changes somehow between M&Ms.
Sometimes it taste like gingerbread cookies.
Sometimes like gingerbread dough.
And sometimes like slightly burned gingerbread cookies.
Maybe they are trying to simulate baking gingerbread cookies?
You always burn the first batch, hehe.

I would like to give a special Christmas greeting to Kevin how got these for me. Merry Christmas man!

To all my readers, I would like to wish a...

Twix Gingerbread

We are nearing us the end of this Christmas season.
And what better than some more gingerbread flavors?
Regular Twix are available in Sweden and they are always nice.
And when I saw these gingerbread flavored ones, I had to have them.
The bag is very gingerbready.
It has the right color and those gingerbread men are just lovely.

These are like regular Twix, but the caramel has been flavored with gingerbread.
There is no real smell of gingerbread unfortunately.
They smell more of regular Twix, which is to say, milk chocolate.
It is really a shame that the cookie bar was not a gingerbread cookie bar.
Because while the caramel does taste like gingerbread.
It is not nearly enough flavor to satisfy my gingerbread cravings.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank Kevin for getting these for me.
Thanks man!

Oreo Chestnut Crunch

An Oreo chocolate bar with a chestnut flavoring.
That sounds like a sure thing, right?
The bar is pretty small, which is perfect if you just want a small snack.
I have been seeing more and more of these non-cookie versions of Oreo.
And I like it, the more the merrier.

I have always liked the Oreo package color.
And this is no exception. It has that nice blue color.
But, it is also orange and that does not really give me visions of chestnuts.
More of an orange flavoring.
I like oranges, but the package should not give the wrong idea.

It does not smell like chestnuts or chocolate.
But it does have a strong smell of coffee, which is pretty weird considering.
So far we have a package that makes you think of oranges and a smell of coffee.
Will the flavor justify these "errors"?
Well, no. It tastes of coffee too.
And that is actually OK. The coffee flavor is really nice.
But this is supposed to be chestnut flavored, so I am a bit disappointed.

Mint Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bites

Continuing my (non punctual) saga of Cookie Dough Bites with some Mint Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bites.
I am not really a fan of mint cookies.
They have to be pretty special for me to like them.

The box is another boring version.
We have seen it before.
At least this one is green, resembling mint.
The "Mint" font is pretty awful, except for the mint leaves that serves as the dot on the I.

The bites has a pretty faint scent of mint.
Which is another con, because I like my mint candy to smell a lot like mint.

At first i thought the candy has expired, but in that I was wrong.
The taste is weird.
A millisecond of minty flavour and then nothing.
I do not know if they are supposed to taste like that, but I do not like it.
As I said, mint candy is supposed to smell and taste a lot of mint.
Hit and miss.

Fudge Brownie Cookie Dough Bites

Lets eat some more bite size cookie dough.
This time we have fudge brownie.
I can not say I have eaten much fudge brownie before.

If last times packaging was basic, this is basic++.
It is a really boring package that does not say much about the product.
But hey, I will bite.

They do not really smell like anything, maybey a bit of chocolate.
But it is really faint.
Like I wrote before, I have not eaten much fudge brownies.
And I do not recognise this taste.
Is this how fudge brownies are supposed to taste?
There is a coconuty aftertaste, which I do not like at all.
These were a hit and miss.

Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Bites

I have been trying the different types of cookie dough candy from Taste of Nature.
And I thought, "Why not take a few weeks to write about them?".
As I wrote two lines ago, they are made by Taste of Nature.
The candy is basically different types of cookie dough dipped in chocolate.

The first one I tried was peanut butter cookie dough.
As you might know, I really like peanut butter.
The packaging is kind of basic, which is a shame really.
Basically, blue/yellow and a hand drawn jar of peanut butter.
I do not know why, but I like that jar.

They do not really smell all that much like peanut butter.
Might be the chocolate cover.
And there is something weird about the taste.
It is more coconut than peanut butter.
It is a bit disappointing really.
This could be so much better.
Maybey next week will have a better flavour.

M&M's Coconut

I was gonna book a trip to a tropical island.
But then, I changed my mind and bought these instead.
Coconutflavoured M&M's.
What do you think, did I make a great deal or what?

This is pretty far from their normal flavours.
But hey, so was the carrot cake ones.
I think the bag is very lovely.
White, with even whiter dots.
And a green tropical isle female M&M.

The M&M's come in three colours.
White, brown and green.
Representing the three stages of a coconut (I guess).

They have a deep smell of coconut eminating from them.
It is like when you open a can of coconut milk.
And the smell goes straight to your nose.

I do not know if the different colours are supposed to taste different.
But I do not think so.
They taste a lot like coconut.
Almost to much.
If I did not know that they are artificially flavoured.
I would think that there was actual coconut in them.

Plopp Kärlek

Today is Valentine's day.
A time for love and togetherness or compulsive eating/gaming.

Plopp has been around since 1949 and the original flavour is chocolate filled with toffee.
It is a very nice and sweet piece of chocolate.
Now, there is a version that is suited for Valentine's.
Kärlek means love in Swedish.
It is toffee flavoured with raspberry jelly white truffles with bits of raspberry.

I am a bit disappointed with the smell.
It is a very chemical smell.

But the taste, the taste is very nice.
It is a mix of sweet raspberries and the thick flavour of truffles.
I do not know if the flavour is the flavour of love, but it is still nice.

I want to wish my sweet girlfriend a lovely Valentine's! Love you!

Oreo Mini Chocolate Bars - Strawberry

If you work a lot (and do not have time to update your blogg), you need energy.
And what better way to get energy than with Oreos?
But not the cookie version.
No, this is a chocolate bar version from Japan.

This chocolate bar is stuffed with bits of strawberry, Oreo icing and crushed cookies.
The packaging is very Oreo-ish but with a nice red tone.
It is clean, I like it.
There is a distinct smell of strawberrys.
The smell is very sweet and lovely.

The chocolate itself is a bit more bitter than regular milk chocolate.
I do not know if i like this or not.
But the filling, the filling is nice.
It is very crunchy and sweet.

Snickers Almond

Last week, there was no blog post.
I am in the middle of renovations, and I just did not have the time.
Anyway, I hope I can make you forget it with this snickers chocolate bar:

Snickers has been around since the 1930s.
Until 1990 it was namned Marathon in the UK.
But here, it has always been called Snickers
The original snickers has always consisted of nougat, peanuts and caramel with a chocolate coating.
But in this version, they have decided to replace the peanuts with almonds.
Was this a smart move?
Let us find out.

The wrapping is quite nice.
I like the light colour, although it could make you believe it was a Snickers with white chocolate.
It has a faint smell of almonds.
It is definently, not as sweet as the original.
And the almonds ate a bit more bitter than peanuts.

But this is good!
I always found the original Snickers to be to much, to sweet.
The almonds give it a more mature taste.

Milka Popcorn

It is a new year. A new unhealthy year.
At first i planned on making the first post for the year something extravagant.
But then I thought, why not start slow and progress from here.
This is not extravagant, this is a chocolate bar with popcorn.
A chocolate bar from Milka non the less.
Milka has been around for over a hundred years.
And was first created in Austria by a Swiss.

At first glance, it looks like rice chocolate.
You know, the kind with puffed rice in chocolate.
But it is so much better.
It it popcorn instead of rice.

The popcorn is of course farmed in the swiss alps.
Which are famous for there vast fields of popcorn.
Or something like that.

It has a regular smell of milk chocolate but there is also a smell of dry popcorn.
You know, like one-day-old popcorn.
I made that sound unpleasant, but it is not... Not at all.

The chocolate is very tasty and the popcorn make more chewy and crunchy.
You see, there are also parts of kernel in the mix.
And that is alright, it actually makes it better.
The popcorn is unfortunately not salted which makes them taste like, well, nothing.

This was an ok mix, but I would like for the popcorn to be salty.
That would have made this chocolate bar all that better.

Marabou Crunchy Corn

This flavour is new in Sweden for the 2012 autum.
Crunchy Corn could be a thanksgiving flavour?
maybe it is more of a halloween flavour, but halloween is over.
So we will have to make do with this flavour for thanksgiving.

This is a milk chocolate based bar filled with roasted crunchy corn.
Marabou used to have a chocolate bar called Amigo.
It was a milk chocolate bar filled with crunched corn chips.
I really liked that one. Will this live up to its predecessor?

Now, I do not really like roasted corn.
I think it builds up in your mouth and the aftertaste is weird.
But combined with chocolate?

It has a regular smell of Marabou chocolate.
By which I mean, it smells like chocolate, but sweeter.
There is also a secondary smell of corn.
The smell is, well, not that pleasing.

Maybey the flavour will take home the price?
Or maybe not...
I was completely sold when it comes to the Amigo version.
But here? The flavours does not mix, but then again they do.
It is like eating something good and bad at the same time.
The chocolate is good.
And the corn is good (well kinda, sometimes).
And the chocolate and the corn together is bad (but sometimes good).
You can tell I am not really clear what I think about it.

Have a great thanksgiving!

Ragusa Jubilé

Whenever I eat Ragusa, I become nostalgic.
When I was young, long before there was a bridge between Sweden and Denmark, me and my family used to take the ferry to Dragör.
Ragusa had not yet made it to Sweden, but on the ferry you could buy it.
This made it very special and a must buy each time we took the ferry.

Ragusa is a treat.
A chocolate bar containing a hazelnut truffle filling with whole hazelnuts covered in dark chocolate.
There's a great smell of halzenuts and also a musky dark smell. It mixes well.
The most special thing about Ragusa, is its texture.
It literally starts melting as soon as you unwrap it (get ready for sticky fingers).
It continues to melt in your mouth mixing all the sweet and dark flavours.
The whole hazelnuts tops it of giving the smooth texture something cripsy.

After all these years I still love it.

Scary Halloween Chocolate Selection

Here's a chocolate selection even the most vile monster would find sweet.
The cover on the box is awesome.
It's got most things halloween.
Everything from evil pumpkins, ghosts to spiders and their webs.
They even got Dracula and his(?) haunted mansion.

The bottom part of the box, turns into a scary mask with little time and effort.
The mask is supposed to be the Wolfman, but i think he looks more happy than scary.
Maybey he liked the chocolate alot.
Will I like the chocolate too?
Ohh, there's also two creepy glow-in-the-dark stickers.
They are awesome and will be put to good use at work.
I like the idea of combining candy and toys.

The box contains 13 pieces of chocolate bonbons(gah! Friday the 13th!) with pumpkin wrappers.
It also contains 5 "bugs", 2 featuring Dracula, 2 skeletonish and 1 spider.
They all smell like regular german chocolate.
The pumpkin bonbons are either filled with sour red cherry or green apple flavoured filling.
I love these, they are really good.
The bugs are all regular chocolate.
I didn't love these, but they are still ok.

Maltesers Shake 'n' Snack

It's Thursday, not Friday... It's Thursday, not Friday... It's Thursday, not Friday...
This post was supposed to be up yesterday. I simply had to much to do, to have the time to write about epic candy.
But today I'm back with a vengeance! A sweet snacky vengeance.
Today, I bring you a really healthy snack (not really).
I bring you the Malteser Shake 'n' Snack.
A Chocolate Milkshake and Maltesers Combo (just like it says on the packaging).

This snack consists of a plastic cup, with a plastic lid and a small box of Maltesers.
The idea is to pull of the foil wrap and pour the Maltesers into the milkshake.
Then put the plastic lid back on to the cup and shake.
This is supposed to mix the liquid with the balls, but really... They're just floating around.

The Maltesers taste like, well, Maltesers. If you haven't tried them, do.
Now, I don't generally like chocolate milkshake. But this one is different.
It tastes more like liquid chocolate pudding and chocolate pudding is always nice to eat.

Also, after you put the balls in the liquid, I think it's unfair to call it a milkshake.
You're supposed to be able to drink a milkshake through a straw.
How are you supposed to suck the Maltesers balls through a straw. This baffles me. I choose to eat it with a spoon instead.

It smells like regular chocolate milk which is a pretty nice smell.
The combination of chocolate milkshake/pudding/milk and Maltesers is pretty great.
If you can get over the fact that you have to ingest it with a spoon.

What about the packaging? It's nice.
It's very much like a regular Malteser packaging.
Also, you can remove the papper/graphics part for safe keeping.

All in all, it's a great and fun snack.

Yorkie Raisins And Biscuits

First created in 1976 Eric Nicoli, the Yorkie is aimed at men.
Which you can see by their slogan, "It's not for girls!".
This has gotten people with to much time on their hands something to do, calling a choclate bar sexist.
Come on people, it's a gimmick.

The Yorkie is available in a range of different flavours, but this particular one is raisins and biscuits.
It has a smell of regular milk chocolate.
Tastes like it to, kind of like Toblerone.
I've tasted the plain version of the Yorkie as well, and it's kind of plain and boring.
This one is a lot better. The raisins give it flavour and the biscuits make it chunkier.
The packaging is kind of cool, with the O replaced by a no-girls-allowed-sign, enhancing their slogan.

And yes, I shared this with a girl...
